Advantages of Digital Dentistry

Dr. Nicole M. Berger is leading South Florida Smile Spa into the future of dentistry. Our office is dedicated to using the most up-to-date technology. Do you want the best treatment modern dentistry can provide? If so, you have come to the right dentist. We want to make your visit as comfortable and painless as possible. Dr. Berger continues her education, learning the latest technics. She also purchases the latest in dental technology. Our goal is to take the fear out of dental care. Advances in digital dentistry are one way we achieve this goal. Since Dr. Berger believes patients should be informed, we will explain these advances in digital dentistry.

Digital X-rays – No More Fear

Our office uses the Gendex GXS-700 digital x-ray sensor with VixWin software. This state of the art technology is able to take accurate x-rays that are more comfortable and expose patients to far less radiation. Your comfort and safety is important to us. The latest advances in digital dentistry have allowed Gendex to provide more comfortable x-rays. Digital imaging is used instead of photographic imaging. The GXS-700 is series’ 8th model of advanced Digital X-Ray sensors. Digital x-rays are now more comfortable than ever before. The small hand held sensor is built with smooth round edges and corners. It can comfortably fit in any size mouth. It was also designed accounting for the mouth’s shape. Best of all, it does not use film or any of the chemicals was required to develop the films. This means no uncomfortable traditional x-ray film to bite down on. Dr. Berger uses filmless digital x-rays so her patients can feel comfortable while having their check –up x-rays taken. Another advantage of the Gendex digital x-ray sensor is it gives off barely any radiation. Many patients are afraid of adverse effects caused by radiation. Now you can relax. Our machine exposes you to less radiation than a cell phone call. You can feel safe. You will not experience any adverse effects. Advances in digital dentistry have led to worry-free dental x-rays.

Digital Scanning – No More Impressions

Our office uses the PlanScan by Planmeca, USA, a revolutionary digital intraoral scanning device. PlanScan’s advances in digital dentistry have led to the most accurate scans our office has ever seen. This makes restorative dentistry faster and more comfortable. Have you ever needed a crown? In the past a dentist first had to take an impression of your teeth. The gooey material placed in your mouth is usually uncomfortable and ill tasting and not something our patients looked forward to. Dr. Berger has purchased this high tech intraoral scanning device for our patients. You will not need impressions. 3D digital imaging is used to create a virtual mold of your mouth. Not only does the PlanScan comfortably provide a virtual mold, but this mold is more accurate than its predecessor. Traditional gooey impressions were often inaccurate. Traditional impression material is made of a hydrophobic material, which means it pulls back from moisture and since our mouths are full of saliva it makes impressions often inaccurate. Since our scanner uses 3D imaging, moisture is no longer an issue. It’s blue laser technology uses small wavelengths achieving images that are 99% accurate. Crowns, veneers, and bridges are made to perfectly fit your mouth. A perfect fit the first time. This means less trips to the dentist and a more comfortable mouth.

Paperless Office

Our office cares about the future of your mouth and the future of our planet. That is why our office is now completely paperless. A paperless office means higher security, lower costs and a oral healthier planet. As a HIPPA compliant office, we value your confidentiality. You can feel safe knowing we take the highest security precautions. With the traditional method of paper files, thieves and other people with ill intentions can easily access files. Using advanced data security methods, we can assure the safety of dental and billing records. Paper and ink cost money. Going paperless saves our office money. That savings is then passed on to you. We are committed to providing the highest quality care at the lowest possible prices. A paperless office also helps the planet. Less trees are cut down and less trash is produced. We want to keep Earth clean and safe for generations to come.
